Everyone around Sardis thought highly of them but looks can be deceiving. Far from being alive, they were dead. Jesus called on them to wake up, strengthen what remained, and repent. If they did so, He promised those people white garments and their name in the Book of Life along with those who had not already soiled their clothes.
