James continues his treatment of practical issues - the tongue is certainly high on the list! Taming the tongue is a mark of Christian maturity. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The goal is to move from our words being a mixed bag, to consistently blessing the Lord and building others up with the words we speak.
